The documentation makes vague allusions to this sort of use case, but without the details which would allow someone to actually do it. Using "Renew License" in the router just gives "Error: Could not receive your license or maybe You are already using active license". "Make a key from a prepaid key" doesn't work, because it asks for Software ID, which isn't the same as System ID from the /system license print output. It shows up in the Mikrotik account as a prepaid key (License L6/PU), but the account says "You do not have any active CHR licenses!", and there's nothing under "CHR orders and invoices". We wanted to update the license to P Unlimited, so we contacted a vendor and bought one. 60-day free trial license is available for all paid license levels. It has its own 4 license levels as well as trial where you can test any of the paid license levels for 60 days. Question is pretty straightforward - We purchased a Maxxwave Vengeance Router using CHR - it shipped with a P10 license, and we didn't realize this until we deployed it and ran into issues when the total traffic (in and out) exceeded 10 Gbps. CHR is a RouterOS version intended for running as a virtual machine.
